Age 0-3: Early Intervention Program
Children under the age of 3 can receive services through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act’s (IDEA) Early Intervention program if they are found to have a developmental delay or a condition likely to lead to a developmental delay. Age 3-21: Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Children and young adults from age 3 to 21 may be eligible for an IEP if they meet the criteria.
An IEP for a speech disorder is designed to provide support to students who have difficulties with articulation that affect their ability to perform in school. For this reason, a student may not qualify for an IEP if there is not an educational impact.
